Avalon, NJ and Stone Harbor, NJ - the playground of Philadelphia's Main Line area. From Gladwyne to Villanova, Devon and Malvern, families flock in drove to the sunny shores and the hometown feel of these beach towns.
My new favorite place to be for weddings, rehearsal dinners, and other events is The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor. The hotel's California modern decor is inviting and refreshing, and their beach concierge service is second to none. Just think of the entrance you and your entourage can make coming into dock on a Boston Whaler, hoping off and getting married right there on the water.
This ethereal photo of the bride's gown was taken at her bayfront home in Avalon. After the ceremony the couple retired to the house to change for the reception, which is when I was able to capture this image of her wedding dress at twilight - hanging from one of the pylons of the dock. It was a moonless night and with hardly any clouds in the sky, the stars over the bay were easily visible. The pink glow on the horizon is the lights of nearby Stone Harbor, with Wildwood and Cape May farther in the distance.
